FYP II - WEEK 18

This is the last post for this blog. 

All compulsory document must submitted last on Friday this week.

  1. The softcopy files related to the Development of Wireless Power Transfer to the Supervisor.
  2. The softcopy files related to the  Development of Wireless Power Transfer to the FYP online website.
  3. A hard cover of the final year project report to the library.
If all goes well, the FYP subject will be completed.

FYP II - WEEK 15 -17

Due to the final exam of s1'2014 semester, I have to halt the final report of the FYP. I will continue writing and finishing the report until the exam has ended.

FYP II - WEEK 13 & 14

Objective: Poster designing

Analysis/Discussion:

The presentation day of FYP II just around the corner. All candidates that participate need to prepare for presentation according the format given. As it has been briefed before the format of poster for presentation must contain the following subject:

1. Introduction
2. Objectives
3. Methodology
4. Block Diagram
5. Analysis
6. Conclusion

My poster was design following the format and satisfied by my supervisor.



The Presentation Day has been a success. I have presented my project to both of the assigned accessors and they are satisfied with my project.

FYP II - WEEK 11 & 12

Objective: Testing of the prototype for charging purpose

Analysis/Discussion:

As the prototype have been completely constructed, there is need to testing and verify that the system is surely able to supply low powered devices through wireless power transfer. For testing purpose, the smartphone and mp3 was used. it is successfully work for charging purpose as shown in figure below.

FYP II - WEEK 10

Objective: The charging cable for electronic device

Analysis/Discussion:

This is the last circuit that need to be constructed. As this project is aiming on the charging of low powered device such as smartphone and mp3, there is one circuit of data cable that use to transfer the power supply from voltage regulator.

The circuit consist of 4 wire which are, the positive terminal, negative terminal, 2V data wire, 2.5V data wire.

FYP II - WEEK 9

Objective: Measuring input and output voltage

Analysis/Discussion:

The input and output voltage is crucial result in this projects as it will be used to calculate the system efficiency. The input voltage was measured after it is being inverted to AC signal while the output voltage was measured after it is being rectified to DC signal. In other word, the input voltage was in transmitter circuit while the transmitter circuit was in receiver circuit.






The output voltage of the receiver circuit was measured in two situation. The maximum DC voltage of 1 cm distance and the maximum distance of 5V output voltage. This is the step taken for all design of coils and the data measured has been recorded.

FYP II - WEEK 8

Objective: Designing copper coil for transmitter and receiver circuit

Analysis/Discussion:

The coil design for transmitter and receiver circuit was based on the number of turns of coil and the diameter of the coil. For this projects, the coils was design into 7 different sizes. This design is the step taken to get the result of the relationship between coils design and output voltage transfer.

FYP 11 - WEEK 6 & 7

Objective: Constructing The Receiver circuit

Analysis/Discussion:

The receiver circuit containing : A) rectifier circuit  B) voltage regulator circuit

A) Rectifier circuit:
 This circuit was constructed using the combination of 4 diode which will create rectification process of AC to DC voltage. This 4 diode combination was called Bridge Rectifier. Bridge rectifier will eliminate the negative pulse of AC voltage hence resulting DC voltage.






B) Voltage Regulator Circuit:

Voltage regulator circuit can be used to ensure steady level of output voltage. In this case, the using of voltage regulator LM 7805 will give an output of steady 5V DC voltage. This output voltage then will be used as the final output of the system of wireless power transfer to supply low powered device. Low powered device mostly using 5V DC voltage as an input supply.

FYP II - WEEK 4 & 5

Objectives :  The simulation circuit of Transmitter coil and Testing the real circuit of transmitter

Analysis/Discussion:

In order to avoid errors when constructing the circuit of transmitter, a simulation have been done using Multisim software: There are many advantages when using software simulation before constructing real circuit. We can avoid error in case it will destroy the real component and we can verify the calculation we had made for a circuit and avoiding such repeated work for just one circuit.


This simulation purposes to measure the frequency of AC signal when applying the power mosfet IRFZ44N as inverter circuit. The result of this simulation though shows that the AC signal resulting in a form of triangle wave.

After done the simulation for transmitter circuit, the real circuit then continued as it is confirm the circuit of no error, steady and suitable for necessary result for this project.

FYP II - WEEK 3

Objective: Completing the purchasing of other components

Analysis/Discussion:

The other components of this projects can easily be purchased at  EZIS store. The components such as inductor, diode, transistor, resistor and capacitor all are available at this store.

FYP II - WEEK 2

Objectives: To buy the main component for the project.

Analysis/Discussion:

The first component that need to have is the heart of the projects that is the copper coil. Today i have purchased 23 AWG copper wire. This wire will be used for the transmitter coil and receiver coil design.



Below is the table regarding to the specifications of copper coil based on the American Wire Gauge (AWG).

FYP II - WEEK 1

Objectives: To begin the next semester of Final Year Project called stage as FYP II.

Analysis/Discussion:

The first week of second semester of final year project just started. All the listed components as had been managed in the previous proposal report was rechecked to aim to the right place for start searching process in making the prototype of the project. All available components for this project that already in market in this country are listed as below:

1. Copper coil
2. Resistor, capacitor, inductor
3. Diode
4. Power supply adapter

WEEK 13

OBJECTIVE: The submission of project proposal.

PROCEDURE:
I have contacted my supervisor asking about the submission of project proposal. My supervisor, Madam Zaridah asked me to give her a draft before i submit the complete project proposal. As my draft had no problem I submitted the complete project proposal to my supervisor.

CONCLUSION:
Project proposal submitted to supervisor.

WEEK 12

OBJECTIVE: Finalize the project proposal before the due date.

ANALYSIS/PROCEDURE:

Project proposal due date is a week left and I had to finalize the project proposal. I rearrange my project proposal following the format given by the FYP committee as i had mention in the earlier post.

CONCLUSION:
The project proposal is finalize to complete.
